WL Toys v929 Quad

The latest thing coming out of WL Toys, the maker of the popular v911, is the v929. It’s a Blade MQX size clone if you are familiar with that quad. The v929 is a good, fun, stable quad and I am having a blast flying it.

My only issue with it is that they model the canopy after the Walkera Ladybird. However, thanks to the work of forum member Darsh, we have a pretty cool looking canopy.

Here is his thread with a few other paper canopies that he has made and shared: Paper canopies – the revenge

I have to thank you, I stumbled here while looking for info on v911 mods I am waiting from china, and the very next  day you post info on the v929.
Long story short, I am now waiting for both, and I’m looking forward to following what you manage to do with them :)

You wouldn’t happen to know how the v929 and v939 compare to the originals, i.e. Blade MQX and QR Ladybird ?
If I understand correctly, the MQX can be freely controlled when flipping, while the v929 has an automated, stuntmode-flip.
But what about stability, power, precision etc.

Oh, and I’m definitely going to get one of these paper canopies, they look awesome.

You’re going to enjoy your new toys. :)I am flying the v929 everynight after my modding session…and am having fun getting to know it. I am new to the world of quads so I can’t compare the v929 directly to the MQX or the Ladybird. But I can regurgitate what I’ve read on the forums. :)The v929 has at the 100% rate, the ability to very easily flip. The thing about flipping fixed pitch blade aircraft is…there’s really no sense of control like you have with a CP. So a MQX having controll while flipping…I don’t really know what that really means.Stability of the v929 is very good. Power seems adequate to me. It’s pretty fast and agile and responsive. And it’s precise too. I control it with my Turnigy 9x, so keep that in mind.WL Toys has a history of making rapid changes due to suggestion by guys on the forum. There’s a person that has a direct line to the head of WL Toys, so that definitely makes things interesting. They already got a LED equipped model out that supposely has the ability to turn on and off the LED from the TX. Some of us speculate that they must have enabled additional channel on the RX to allow this ability. We’ll see once people get a hold of these new v929.Also, the v939 is due to be available any time now. And that is the competitor to the LadyBird.

Thanks. It was only the second time I folded that. It only got better. I agree with your assessment between the mQX and the v929. Being able to loop the mQX puts it’s performance more hobby-grade IMHO. But the v929 is tons of fun. I took it to the beach recently and it’s battery dumped as it was over the water. Fished it out, dried it at home and relube and it was up in the air again. Crazy. And for those who has a Spektrum compatible radio, you can easily get a mQX RX if you must have the ability to do loop. I am sure it can be rigged up to fit on the v929’s frame. :)
