Got some new receivers in that are compatible with the FrSky protocol. No doubt thanks to midelic’s work on RCGroups. Hoping the sqaurish format will allow me to bury it into micro FPV quadcopter builds. It was difficult finding a location for the regular FrSky X4R-SB.
The RX-F801 and RX-F802 were purchased from BangGood.
I will be updating it with the new firmware versions midelic made available. Linked to below. It now supports telemetry and PPM and SBUS.
Some pictures of the RX-801 as I took off the outer plastic casing. The F802 came in a similar case.

Hello, I’ve picked up a pair of these rx 801 and 802. Bench testing with the devo 7e i can get telemetry back from the 802, rssi and analog inputs, but not the 801 as expected on the original firmwares.
I attempted to update the 801 with midelics recent hex (and older version) using an arduino uno as the usbasp with the example code for usbisp. Connected up i can detect the atmega328p in avrdudess, but have trouble uploading the firmware with a message of programmer not responding.
I was curious if the banggood units need to be programmed with a standalone usbasp or if the update has been locked out somehow.
Do you have any advice on flashing these two rxs?
Thanks,
Calum
I am still waiting on a frame that will use the two RX80x that I have. Have you jumped on the RCGroups thread? The folks should be able to help get you sorted.
